ACRONYM® Acronymjutsu [FW-1213] from ACRNM on Vimeo.

Technical performance label Acronym unveil its Fall/Winter 2012 video appropriately titled “Acronymjutsu.” Created by Ken-Tonio Yamamoto with music by Zomby, the viewer is treated to an expedited run through of some of the various pieces offered for the season. Designers Michaela Sachenbacher and Errolson Hugh note that, while the collection videos do explain some of the features of the styles, the majority are often not shown – saying “We’d rather let people discover the details themselves; as they wear the pieces and make them their own.”

ACRNM is available at CONCRETE.

Following the release of The Hundreds’s 2012 fall lookbook, Bobby Hundreds takes us through the process and reasoning behind the photo shoot with support from accompanying behind-the-scenes footage. With a collection that features a strong use of camouflage and Native American prints, as well as washed-out color palettes, soft edges and distressed detailing, Mr. Hundreds discusses a theme that surrounds an apocalyptic time in which man is expected to coexist with the surviving beasts in a nomadic search for scarce resources.

When it comes to the world of technical fashion, there is arguably no other brand that has set the bar as high as Berlin-based Acronym. The brand founded by Errolson Hugh and Michaela Sachenbacher was conceived as a “unification of style and technology in apparel.” While aesthetics have long been the defining point of fashion, Acronym’s interest in utilitarianism and functionality has essentially created and filled a void that few knew existed. An opportunity to speak with co-founder Errolson Hugh is a rarity in itself as we toured his Berlin atelier and gained a greater understanding of the infrastructure and philosophy that has established Acronym as one of fashion’s most innovative brands.

On 23rd of March the Night Slugs will be leaving a slimy trail of raw baselines and rambling beats throughout the MC-Theatre Amsterdam just as they have done in CONCRETE Amsterdam. L-Vis 1990 and friend and label partner Bok Bok will be flown in for a workshop and set. Backed up by Cinnaman, they will be showcasing why they’re symbolic for the new UK sound. The event will be brought to you by Red Bull Music Academy, de traveling workshop and festival for young artists, which will be held in the autumn of 2012 in NYC.

According to the British media, the Night Slugs are symbolic for the revival of dance and are L-Vis and Bok Bok the saviors of this genre. Now it is known that the british can be a bit dramatic at times, but whoever knows the un-compartmentalizing sound of these gents will be the first to admit that it’s been a long time since something as fresh as this dropped by. Glow-in-the-dark, is how the two art & design students describe their sound. Night Slugs tracks always stand out. Previous to the club night, starting at 19:30, the two Slugs will be sharing their experience during a Red Bull Music Academy Workshop, also in the MC-Theatre Amsterdam. Academy alumnus Full Crate and Palmbomen are also attending to share their knowledge with the audience. Admittance to this workshop is free, the club night costs € 5,-.

Check out the Facebook Event Page HERE.

Registering for New York City.
Between September 30th and the 2nd of November 2012, New York City will be hosting the 14th Red Bull Music Academy. Two groups of 30 musicians, producers and dh’s will be invited to the Big Apple. New York is one of the most inspiring music cities in the world. While dramatic outbursts of violence in the ghetto cradled the birth of Hip Hop, intellectuals and punkers like Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol, The Ramones and the Beastie Boys were finding each other in ‘The Village’. Disco and later House emerged when the local gay scene massively started coming out the closet in clubs like The Loft and Studio 54, while men like Miles Davis, Sonny
Rollings and Art Blakey had started a revolution a few decades earlier with Jazz. New York is music.

Enroll yourself before the 2nd of April at

Already know and love the Night Slugs? The Mishka x Night Slugs colab tees and snapbacks are still in-store at CONCRETE. Get them while they last, numbers are limited.

Today sees the start of multidisciplinary festival: The Lighthouse at Korzo, which runs till coming Saturday the 17th of March.

The Lighthouse is a new multidisciplinary festival in The Hague. Both domestic and international acts will be rocking the Korzo building, amongst many others the festival will see pioneer in new media: Frieder Weiss (Berlin), dancer and acrobat Claudio Stellato (Brussels), Dutch war-photographer Geert van Kesteren, bedroompopband Cosmo V (Utrecht) and prize winner at Dutch Dance Days and Korzo choreographer Joeri Dubbe (The Hague).

The closing act for the festival is none other than long time CONCRETE friends, the notorious British duo: Addictive TV. Who graced the CONCRETE image store Amsterdam with their presence during ADE’08, their VJ and DJ mash-up remixes from Star Trek to Family Guy are contagiously poppy.

Check the video below for an example of what Addictive TV does.
