“Memento Mori: Year Of The Snake”

Maharishi launch Spring Summer 13 this month, celebrating The Chinese Year of the Snake. The collection is entitled Memento Mori, and many aspects of the collection remind us of the inevitability of death. Two red dots, representing the snake’s bite, appear on t-shirt graphics and subtly within details from bar tacks and button holes to the colouring of maharishi’s 3 circular eyelet branding.

Seasonally maharishi offer a new disruptive pattern, this time its a version of the house camo pattern. Entitled DPM: Bonsai Python, the pattern is available in woodland and night colourways. The usual bonsai trees growing from heavenly clouds and other elements are infilled with a snakeskin texture look. Although in nature there are not typically any woodland patterned snakes, maharishi take this artistic license to reinforce the theory that camouflage was only developed thanks to the research of Abbot Thayer and other natural historians and the development of Picasso’s Cubism, which allowed artists to create more abstract renditions of nature.

With an emphasis on contemporary design, the exclusive Penfield Black Bear Collection offers a mix of technical and premium fabrics on classic silhouettes alongside more fashion forward styles.

For Fall/Winter 2012, Penfield have worked with British tweed manufacturers Moon. Founded in 1837 by Abraham Moon, the name has become synonymous with design and innovation throughout the world. Within the Black Bear range, this unique tweed has been used on the all new Sibley hooded down vest and the Landis down duffle jacket.

The Stapleton jacket and vest have been fabricated in a beautifully intricate Japanese navy floral print pattern fabric and a contrasting jet black yoke.

Penfield and CONCRETE invite you to take a closer look at the new Fall/Winter 2012 Black Bear Collection, for a superior take on ‘Life in the Open’.

Description about each jacket, from top left to bottom right.

One of our most celebrated styles, the Stapleton jacket has been re-worked with a premium Japanese navy leaf print fabric and a contrasting tough leather yoke in jet black.
Insulated with our premium 80/20 down for supreme warmth and a 100% cotton shell. Discreet chest and lower pockets allow the navy leaf pattern to remain uninterrupted, whilst the snap down front with inside zip keep you protected.
A popular silhouette reworked with a premium fabric, the Stapleton BB jacket is a stylish but hardwearing choice.

The Outback Camo is a down insulated vest that combines a classic Penfield silhouette with premium but hardwearing camo fabric, for a contemporary design with all the trademark Penfield features.
The Outback Camo has been constructed from printed camo cotton canvas on the top half of the vest and Penfield Hudson Wax on the lower half with a contrasting nappa leather shoulder yoke for added strength and durability. Insulted with our premium 80/20 down, the Outback Camo provides supreme warmth whilst remaining lightweight and comfortable. The front snap closure keeps out the cold.
A chest pocket with branded rivet reinforcement and two lower patch pockets with leather details ensure a high quality finish on a fashion forward but functional style.

We have searched high and low to find an authentic tweed of the highest quality and have sourced Abraham Moon Tweed, manufactured in Yorkshire, the traditional home of the English cloth mills. This traditional fabric has been combined with the smart tailored detailing of the Banks blazer and down insulation, for a unique style that has been beautifully crafted.
The simple button closure includes inside backing buttons, keeping the front of the jacket secure and smart. A concealed button under the lapel, allows for full closure and added protection. Two lower button down pockets and two inside pockets have been finished to the highest of standards with Penfield branded buttons.
The contrast corduroy collar and elbow patches provide added comfort and style, marking the Banks Tweed as a timeless style in an authentic, exceptional fabric.

The Fullerton Suiting jacket combines premium Penfield down with Melton wool and stripe suiting fabric, for a classic tailored feel with all the trademark Penfield functional features.
The Fullerton has been constructed from gray Melton wool on the top half of the jacket, with chalk stripe suiting fabric on the lower half and a contrasting nappa leather shoulder yoke for added strength and durability. Insulted with premium 80/20 down, the Fullerton Suiting ensures supreme warmth whilst remaining lightweight and comfortable.
