The theme for maharishi’s Autumn Winter 2013 is based on the modern day Prepper, a group who prepare for a future where our basic food and energy needs may not be provided by the state or private enterprise, following economic or societal collapse, a solar flare hitting the earth and wiping out electricity grids, a polar shift or anyone of a myriad of possible apocalyptic events.

maharishi’s camouflage DPM pattern this season is a photo real rendition of an English Oak forest infused with bright red edible berries, referencing the hi visibility colours included in many hunting patterns since several US states outlawed non high vis camo for hunting (as a result of so many fatal hunting accidents where hunters successfully hide from fellow hunters and get caught in the cross fire). With so much of the prey being colour blind, the orange and hi vis layer in the patterns is only visible to humans.

The new Maharishi collection is in-store now at CONCRETE.

A cotton viscose t-shirt with an oversized silhouette, featuring an all over snake bones print created by guest artist Myoshka.

maharishi’s Spring Summer 2013 collection celebrates the chinese lunar year of the snake, whilst the contrast snakebite detailing features throughout the collection as a Memento Mori, a symbolic reminder of the inevitability of death.

This and more from Maharishi’s summer’13 collection are available at CONCRETE.

This season maharishi presents a slim fitting, modern, technical interpretation of the U.S. Army’s Air Force uniforms of 1947, the year it was disbanded. Semi- fitted, articulated Custom pants and flight jacket inspired organic knitwear form the basis for day whilst blazers and macs with flight nylon jacket liners provide casual evening wear for the Officers. Soft tailoring is offered in worsted wool as well as waxed and treated cottons.

Highlights include waterproof wool technical outerwear, epitomising maharishi’s ongoing commitment to respecting nature whilst utilising technology. Graphic influences include European disruptive patterns and Japanese sayagata-asanoa geometrics, maintaining maharishi’s East meets West influences and continued representation of the dualistic nature of our universe.

maharishi aims to convey a strong anti-war sentiment through its use of camouflage reclaiming its symbolic value away from war, back to its roots in nature and development by artists and to highlight objections to continues 21st century warfare.

The Spring/Summer 2012 releases from UK-based Maharishi finds the brand in top form, presenting consumers with wearable items that still maintain an upscale and fashion-conscious aesthetic. In a nice twist on the season, they’ve employed many earth tones, where as normally spring/summer finds brands busting out their yellows, oranges and reds. The latest pieces from Maharishi will be available at CONCRETE.

Brush up your camo knowledge, check out this article Complex did in collaboration with Maharishi founder Hardy Blechman. Below you can find the introduction to the article. Which quickly describes a feeling and vision most camothusiasts probably all share. For the full article click HERE.

maharishi took the idea of camo and ran with it in such away, that in the late 90s, it was the perfect thing at the perfect time. There was something in the air of change. I’d always worn camo, it was always about function, but in the late ’90s there was a camo moment and maharishi made that happen. What they started keeps living on. Fashion comes and goes, prints come and go, proper camo never really goes away.

I love the idea of the sartorial mix of fatigues and a great blazer. Camo is almost like a solid. It is the perfect uniform, you can wear camo in any application and it is always right. – Nick Wooster
