For most of us, weekdays mean being held to certain dress codes, whether at school or at work. Mishka‘s Fall 2013 collection, however, is tailor-made for your time off – a new range that’s all about statement pieces and “the strong joints you keep in the closet.” From camos and animal prints to wild geometric patterns and tie-dye finishes, military jackets, flannels and sweats will have you looking like an “African prince in Brooklyn” — at least on the weekends. The collection is now available at CONCRETE.

Akomplice Clothing’s latest endeavor finds them teaming up with legendary photographer Ricky Powell. In celebration of Ricky Powell’s 50th anniversary, the two collaborated on a signature collection of the New York Crimes hat. Akomplice felt it was only befitting to collaborate with Ricky after he dubbed himself the Akomplice “poster child” for reppin’ their NY Crimes hat so often in photos. For any who may not know, Ricky Powell is an iconic photographer that has captured history through his lens and shot everyone from Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquiat to The Beastie Boys.

This year Ricky has been making stops around the world in celebration of his 50th year anniversary. The next stop will be November 17th in Santa Barbara, California at the Akomplice flagship store where Ricky will unveil the release of the New York Crimes beanie and snapbacks. To commemorate the release, Ricky will be live in the building with a live photo exhibition.

Having burst onto the scene, in large part thanks to their outlandish LEGO creations, brotherly duo Dee and Ricky have since collaborated with a number of brands on a significantly larger scale. The latest creation from the twins is a joint venture with PONY, in which they present the “Urban Jungle” Capsule Collection. The set features a pair of the brand’s silhouettes, the Slamdunk Hi and the newcomer, the NYC Topstar Lo. Each model has been decked out to the unmistakable liking of Dee and Ricky, as both highlight a variety of vibrant shades and intricate lettering. The collection is slated to release this month with a marquee event taking place Friday, December 16 at CONCRETE Amsterdam (click here for directions).

Amongst Friends is a line developed by Mikol Stambough, although actually it is much more a true collaborative effort between Mikol and his close friends which “utilizes the resources that develop through genuine friendships.” Hence the name of the line.
Looking to address the consumer who is looking for less impact in their wardrobe, Amongst Friends is catering to make “clothes that people want to wear, not that they should wear.”
Amongst Friends Clothing can be found at your local Concrete store.

This video gives us a glimpse of what the New York City subway system looked like back in 1986, nearly 25 years ago. Shot with a 16mm film camera, the footage captures the bustling excitement of the Time Square station just a few years before the city’s Metropolitan Transit Authority implemented a “clean train” policy which removed all trains featuring graffiti tagging off the tracks for good.

Wasting my time staring at a comp, realization hits me that nobody can formulate this story better than the crazy f*ckers at Мишка, sit back and enjoy.

You all remember this photo right? It’s testament enough to the power of the images (and the twin forces of nature contained within) that the words “lookbook Kristen” have fully integrated themselves into the vernacular of Мишка’s extended family and fans. There’s not a day that goes by where there isn’t a whole influx of people coming to our site searching specifically for lovely Kristen.

The work that Ellen Stagg and Kristen Pyles did on that special Fall ’10 lookbook was straight up bonershorts yo. We know it, you know it, the internet knows it. So, to commemorate that, we’ve given Kristen her very own skate deck and tee-shirt! How could we not? The deck is 7 3/4 and comes in five random color stains (Blue, Red, Purple, Green and Orange) on the reverse side.

All of these are available at Concrete as of today.

G-Shock is proud to announce a new collaboration with artist/entrepreneur Craig Costello, a.k.a. “KR”, founder of Krink (High quality art supplies).

“Staying true to the G-Shock toughness and technology, the DW6900KR-8 carries the tradition of Krink’s minimalist design aesthetic, the DW-6900KR-8 has a metallic matte silver finish (Casio pulled it out of it’s library especially for KR) and for the first time in G-Shock history, the watch will bare a full mirror face and LCD display. Craig also omitted all technical type from the inner ring on the face of the watch, making this piece the cleanest look G-Shock has ever produced. Each G-Shock x Krink timepiece has a custom-made “silver on silver” commemorative tin for its collectors.”

The watch will release around April 2011 at Concrete.

To compliment the collaborative release, both KRINK and G-Shock link-up to present a short video which highlights several topics. Of course the notion of working together with Casio G-Shock is discussed as well as his initial foray into painting mailboxes and working in New York City.

Some of the sharper ones might have been noticing a band of NYC creatives sneaking into Concrete. First to drop was the Alife be@rbrick, to be followed quickly by the Alife x Casio G-Shock collab (which were both soldout over night on . But today Alife‘s presence in Concrete gets shifted into a higher gear with the release of their full footwear collection. Good, sturdy, clean kicks with a mature touch in the materials, beautiful shapes and a no-nonsense approach to their colour-schemes, these are sure to keep you fresh all summer long. Straight from the streets of New York into your local Concrete, pick yours up today.

Alife is a lifestyle concept based on and in downtown New York City. It is focused on art and creativity with a strong penchant for originality, even if that means stealing it. Alife’s mission is to showcase, elevate and perpetuate the downtown culture from which it is born. Alife cannot be defined by one cultural movement alone. Alife is art. THE SOURCE OF ART IS IN THE LIFE OF A PEOPLE.

Mishka gives us a nice behind the scenes look at their upcoming Spring 2011 Collection Lookbook.

“The lookbook for all of Spring 2011 will be unveiled to the world in the coming days, but we’ve decided to give you a little taste. A Мишка amuse bouche. Matthew Caron (AKA The Vidiot) shot all this footage of our lookbook shoot (yeah, we’re meta. What of it?), and put together this succulent little teaser video. As you can see, we’ve chosen a bunch of our favorite musicians from the greater NY area to model all our new duds.

This lookbook features the likes of (deep breath): Neon Indian, Suckers, Das Racist, Roofeeo, Creep, Hussle Club, Fostercare, BL§§D OU†, AraabMuzik, AC Slater & The Captain (of Trouble & Bass), as well as recent Мишка Mixtaper Stalley, all shot by the lovely and talented Marley Kate.”

Sounds promising. We cannot wait to show you the final lookbook in the coming days!

Milwaukee Bicycle Co. worked with Mishka on a custom D.A.R.T. Bruiser bicycle.

The Bruiser was the first fixed gear of it’s kind. A solid-as-fuck bike meant to take a beating. Since its release, other companies have followed suit, mimicking the geometry and detailing.

The bike comes features D.A.R.T. and MKE insignias alongside a special headtube badge. Keep an eye out on this blog for release dates.
